Elisabeth Tietmeyer

Prof. Dr. Elisabeth Tietmeyer ist seit 2013 Direktorin des Museums Europäischer Kulturen – Staatliche Museen zu Berlin, Preußischer Kulturbesitz. Nach ihrem Studium der Sozial- und Kulturanthropologie sowie Soziologie führte sie ethnografische Feldforschungen in Kenia, Ukraine und Deutschland durch. Bis 1999 war sie Leiterin der Abteilung Europa und der Abteilung Sammlungen des Ethnologischen Museums – Staatliche Museen zu Berlin. Als Mitbegründerin des Museums Europäischer Kulturen – Staatliche Museen zu Berlin fungierte sie von 2000 bis 2012 als dessen stellvertretende Direktorin und Seniorkuratorin. Ihre Aktivitäten und Forschungen im Museum konzentrieren sich auf Themen wie Diversität, (Zwangs-)Migration, kulturelle Verflechtungen, Gender, Minderheiten in Europa und im/materielle Kultur. Neben ständigen Beratungstätigkeiten für verschiedene Kultureinrichtungen gehörte sie von 2013 bis 2022 dem Expertenkomitee der Deutschen UNESCO-Kommission für Immaterielles Kulturerbe an und ist seit 2024 Mitglied des Deutschen Nationalkomitees für das UNESCO Memory of the World Programm.

Prof Dr Elisabeth Tietmeyer is director of the Museum Europäischer Kulturen – Staatliche Museen zu Berlin, Preußischer Kulturbesitz. Having studied Social and Cultural Anthropology and Sociology, she conducted ethnographical fieldwork in Kenya, Ukraine and Germany. She had been head of the European Department and of the Collection Department at the Ethnologisches Museum – Staatliche Museen zu Berlin until 1999. As co-founder of the Museum Europäischer Kulturen, she acted as vice-director and senior curator from 2000 to 2012. Her museum’s activities and research focus on topics like diversity, (forced) migration, cultural entanglements, gender, minorities in Europe and im/material culture. Amongst other consulting activities of cultural institutions she was a member of the expert committee of the German UNESCO commission on Intangible Cultural Heritage until 2022 and is part of the German National Committee for the UNESCO Memory of the World Programme since 2024.

Patricia Rahemipour

Prof. Dr. Patricia Rahemipour ist Direktorin des Instituts für Museumsforschung bei den Staatlichen Museen zu Berlin, Stiftung Preußischer Kulturbesitz. Davor leitete sie die Abteilung Wissenskommunikation des Botanischen Gartens und des Botanischen Museums Berlin mit den Bereichen Bildung, Archiv, Verlag und Bibliothek. Dort war sie auch Leiterin des Botanischen Museums. Frau Rahemipour studierte Ur- und Frühgeschichte, Klassische Archäologie und Philosophie und wurde im Fach Ur- und Frühgeschichte mit dem wissenschaftshistorischen Thema „Archäologie im Scheinwerferlicht. Die Visualisierung der Prähistorie im Film 1895-1930“ promoviert. Erste Museumserfahrungen machte sie bei der Sammlungserschließung der Lehrsammlung am Lehrstuhl für Ur- und Frühgeschichte an der Universität Leipzig. Später war sie in unterschiedlichen Funktionen als Projektleiterin und Kuratorin u.a. für das Deutsche Archäologische Institut und das Exzellenzcluster Topoi tätig. Nach einer Station am Jüdischen Museum Frankfurt wurde Frau Rahemipour erst Referentin und ab 2016 Leiterin des Botanischen Museums und der Abteilung Wissenskommunikation. Sie ist Mitglied des Interimsvorstandes der Stiftung Preußischer Kulturbesitz und Vorsitzende des Berliner Museumsverbandes.

Prof. Dr. Patricia Rahemipour is director of the Institute for Museum Research at the Staatliche Museen zu Berlin, Stiftung Preussischer Kulturbesitz (Prussian Cultural Heritage Foundation). Patricia Rahemipour studied Prehistoric and Classical Archaeology, as well as Philosophy, and gained first experiences as head of the study collection at the Department of Prehistory at the University of Leipzig. Thereafter, she worked as project manager and senior curator for the German Archaeological Institute and the Excellence Cluster “Topoi.” After two years at the Romano-Germanic Commission and Jewish Museum Frankfurt, she arrived at the Botanical Garden Berlin, advancing to Director of the Botanical Museum and the Department of Science Communication. She is a member of the interim board of the Stiftung Preußischer Kulturbesitz and board member of the Berliner Meuseumsverband (Berlin Museum Association).

Kathrin Grotz

Kathrin Grotz, M.A., ist seit April 2020 stellvertretende Direktorin des Instituts für Museumsforschung. Ihre aktuellen Forschungsschwerpunkte sind innovative Formate der Wissenskommunikation, Museumsevaluation und Publikumsforschung sowie Zirkulationen von Sammlungen und Objektzirkulationen. Ihr Interesse gilt auch den jüngsten historischen Transformationen der deutschen Museumslandschaft. Im Rahmen des Verbundprojekts museum4punkt0 (2022-23) leitete sie gemeinsam mit Patricia Rahemipour das Teilprojekt „Materialisierung des Immateriellen“ zur digitalen Vermittlung von immateriellem Kulturerbe. Zuvor arbeitete sie am Botanischen Garten und Botanischen Museum der Freien Universität Berlin, wo sie als Leitende Kuratorin und Ausstellungsleiterin für zahlreiche Ausstellungen verantwortlich war.

Kathrin Grotz, M.A., has been Deputy Director of the Institute for Museum Research at the Statens Museums in Berlin – Prussian Cultural Heritage Foundation since April 2020. In her current research she focuses on innovative formats of science communication, evaluation and audience research as well as collections and object circulations. She also has a strong interest in the recent historical transformations of the German museum landscape. As part of the network project museum4punkt0 (2022-23), she and Patricia Rahemipour led the sub-project ‚Materialisation of the intangible‘ on the digital mediation of intangible cultural heritage. Prior to that, Kathrin worked at the Botanic Garden and Botanical Museum of the Freie Universität Berlin, where she was responsible for numerous exhibitions as a senior curator and head of exhibitions.

Nushin Atmaca

Nushin Atmaca (sie/ihr) studierte Islamwissenschaft, Politikwissenschaft und Teilgebiete des Rechts an der Freien Universität Berlin mit Aufenthalten in Alexandria, Kairo und Amman und Kulturen des Kuratorischen an der Hochschule für Grafik und Buchkunst in Leipzig. Seit Anfang 2023 ist sie als wissenschaftliche Mitarbeiterin am Museum Europäischer Kulturen angestellt. Momentan arbeitet und forscht sie im Projekt „Muslimische Sichtbarkeit im Museum: Spuren europäischer Muslim*innen in der Sammlung des MEK“; ihre weiteren Themenschwerpunkt sind inklusive Sammlungssystematik, Immaterielles Kulturerbe und diskriminierungsfreie Sammlungspräsentation.

Nushin Atmaca (she/her) studied Middle Eastern Studies, Political Science, and Law at the Freie Universität Berlin, and lived in Alexandria, Cairo and Amman. She also holds a Master’s degree in Cultures of the Curatorial from the Academy of Fine Arts in Leipzig. She has been a researcher at the Museum of European Cultures since the beginning of 2023. She is currently researching and working on the project „Muslim Visibility in the Museum: Traces of European Muslims in the Collection of the Museum of European Cultures“. Her other research interests include collection systematics, intangible cultural heritage and non-discriminatory presentation of collections.
